Miss State forced a fumble by Auburn's Freshman QB that replaced Brandon Cox. It's too bad Henig (State's starting QB) broke his hand and is done for the day.

Miss State vs. Auburn

Nine minutes left in the first quarter Miss State 3 - Auburn 0. State is looking to establish their running game on the first drive. It was a very effective tactic until the drive stalled inside the red zone. Things are looking good though.

In non football related news, the US Women's national soccer team won their game against Sweden 2 - 0. Abby Wambach scored both goals. I have a not so subtle crush on both Wambach and goalkeeper Hope Solo.

Auburn just threw an interception and Miss State ran in back for a touchdown. HA! Is Brandon Cox the worst QB in the SEC or is it just me?

*Brandon Cox just threw another interception cementing the fact that he is the worst QB in the league.

Gameday II: Revenge of Boring

Today's first batch of games started up a little while ago, but they are the boring ones nobody wants to see unless they're alumni. Miss State and Auburn is the first game that I will watch. SEC bias? Yessir, without question.

Dumbest thing I've heard watching various pre-game shows today:
"Kentucky will win the SEC." - Some Jackass on CSTV

No offense to my UK friends, but they aren't going to win the East. Third, or Second at best.

Gameday Pt. 1

Up and ready to get this party started. Currently I am starting my first mason jar full of whiskey. Lots of football to watch today, lots of whiskey to consume and lots of phone calls to be made. Hell, I may even get something to eat at some point in the day. I certainly hope you are on the list because this is going to be a fun and wild ride.

Smile

So I was totally having a terrible horrible no good very bad day, much like Alexander, today, but then the most extraordinary thing happened. Someone made me smile. Not a fake, this is for a picture, unnatural smile. Rather, it was a "you made my day and quite possibly my week" smile. I liked it very much.

Read A Book

What does Jesse Jackson dislike more than being faithful to his wife? Apparently BET for making a video to the song "Read A Book." This controversy did not made its way into my scope until today because, as a general rule, I stopped watching BET a few years ago.

Backstory:
Bomani "D'mite" Armah, who is not a rapper but a poet with a hip-hop style according to his website, came up with a song entitled "Read a Book." Armah is a youth counselor in the Washington D.C. area and interacts with young people on a regular basis. He came up with the song as a way to parody the "crunk" style made popular by Lil' Jon and provide social commentary on the current state of popular hip-hop music. One way or another someone from BET heard the song and approached Armah about doing an animated video. This clip explains the how the song came about.


So where does Jesse Jackson come into the equation? That's what I said too. For some reason people seem to think that this video is a public service announcement meant to get kids to read. Here is the actual video. BE WARNED THIS IS TOTALLY NOT SAFE FOR WORK.


Anyone who thinks this is seriously meant to be a PSA needs to reevaluate their sense of humor. It's a satire on "urban" culture. SATIRE. As in not meant to be taken seriously. As in not a PSA.
It's without question eons better and not nearly as embarassing as Ms. Peachez chicken song.


The story has made its way into the LA Times and the New York Times.
When I initially heard the song title the first thing that came to mind was Bun B's line "Go read a book you illiterate son of a bitch and step up your vocab." Oddly enough it is in the song "Big Pimpin'" by UGK and Jay-Z. Bomani's remix for "Read a Book" samples the line.
